Why Get Breast Revision Surgery?
There are many things that set women apart from men— most of them psychological and emotional— but many of them physical as well. If you have had to have your breasts removed with a mastectomy, then you will likely feel physically deflated. Luckily, by getting breast revision surgery you can build-up your physical appearance, your self esteem, and your quality of life.
What is Breast Revision Surgery?
Sometimes during a mastectomy, most of the breast tissue will be removed which won’t leave enough support for your body to hold an implant in place. As one of the first steps in breast revision surgery, a flap technique will be used in order to create that support that your breasts need in order to hold the implant in place.
Additionally, patients can also undergo tissue expansion surgery in order to create enough room for the implant and for your body to hold onto it. During this procedure, healthy skin will be stretched in order to provide enough coverage for your breast implant.
Once either the flap technique or tissue expansion has been performed, the implant(s) will then be placed, and if needed, construction of the nipple will also be done.
